it's here!

sorry this is going to be pretty short and sweet. travis and i have been busy packing boxes all weekend because we FINALLY got the go ahead...we will be moving into our new home this friday! i can't think of a more perfect way to be spending a scorching 24th of july! :) we basically have everything packed up into boxes that are beginning to take over the living room. we will close on our mortgage some time between now and thursday and i will pick up our keys thursday over my lunch break! we are VERY excited to see this day finally come and i am especially excited that my parents will be here to help with the whole process (although i do feel bad that i am putting them to work when it is supposed to be a vacation for them!) wish us luck that all goes as planned and i PROMISE to take lots of pictures and post them later on!

So Close!

It's official. We are guaranteed to be moving in before the end of the month! We got our letter yesterday in the mail so we have it in writing. The only problem is that the letter says our guaranteed date is July 30 BUT verbally they say that "we will probably be in before that"...so really we have no clue of the exact date that we are moving! (Sorry everyone that is planning on helping us move...we will let you all know AS SOON as we find anything out for sure) All we know is that things are getting SO CLOSE! We were so surprised to see counter tops in the kitchen and appliances in place when we went to the house on Wednesday night. Notice I said we? That's right...Travis came to Logan to spend the night Wednesday so it worked out so well that there had been so much done earlier that day! (Disclaimer...LOTS of photos to below!)

Master bathtub

Sinks and Counter tops finished in all the bathrooms

Living Room Baseboards completed

Mirrors are up :)

Granite counter tops and appliances installed (done a WEEK before we were expecting them!)

Closer look at the granite...the bronze faucet really picks up the bronze flecks in the counter top

Another angle of the kitchen

Best part about that refrigerator is that it's already paid for! :)

Insulated garage door installed

I surprised Travis with a picnic! It was our FIRST meal in our new place!

Exterior siding is FINALLY done...backside view

Traditional street view of the finished exterior

Even though I know that no one that reads this blog works for IMMACULATE HOMES, our builder, I just wanted to give a shout out to them and thank them for all their hard work. We really feel like they have gone out of their way to make this long process go as quickly as possible for us. They have done a beautiful job and we can't wait to finally be settled in our new home within the next couple of weeks!

The Obelisk

I was lucky to have this Friday off work to celebrate the 4th of July so I decided to go bag another peak. The forecast called for some afternoon thunderstorms so we needed to make it a shorter trip to avoid being caught in some bad weather. The Obelisk has been on my list for a while and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to climb it. The Obelisk (10,516 ft.) sits right in the middle of the Wasatch Mountains and has some spectacular views of the surrounding peaks from its summit. Here are a few photos from the trip.

The Pfeifferhorn as seen from the Maybird drainage.

Standing up in the clouds on the top of the Obelisk.

John enjoying the views from atop the Obelisk. White Baldy can be seen directly behind him.

Brian standing on top of the Obelisk.

Looking west from the summit towards the Lightning Ridge.

John and I traversing a snow slope on the way back down.

A nice little glissade sure beats walking.
